Preface: I really hope I like this, because I need to find a good boxed Cab…

Black Box – Cabernet Sauvignon – Chile – $19.99

Winemakers Review: Black Box Wines Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied, displaying enticing aromas of black currant, toasty oak, and a hint of vanilla. Ripe blackberries and chocolate fill the palate with balanced tannins that lead to a soft, lingering finish.

My Review:

This wine is gorgeous — so dark red and really thick. Just look.

I mean, come on… That’s just beautiful. Anyway, the vanilla aroma is very prevalent and gives this wine a nice light balance between the toasty oak. The flavor is highly tannic at the end but SO sweet and smooth at the beginning. I immediately taste a soft cherry taste that goes super well with a good whiff of that vanilla aroma. The end tannins aren’t as dramatic as the last Cabernet Sauvignon I wrote about: Substance. That one was much more tannic and harsh on the tongue, but this one is more soft and seems almost watered down. The tannins leave my tongue dry but thirsty, so I guess I’ll just have to finish a few glasses of this (wink). I think I still like Substance Cabernet Sauvignon more because this one is less dynamic due to the watered-down taste. I’ll continue the search for a good boxed Cabernet – Maybe Bota Box has a good one!
